Protect a parked domain
Idle and parked domains are negative-SEO magnets: nobody watches them, so farms spray them freely. Protection is a nameserver change at your registrar. We serve a neutral, non-indexed hold page and sink hostile traffic at the edge.
1. Add the domain
Sign in at app.seosink.com and choose Add domain → Parked / idle. The dashboard shows the two SEO Sink nameservers to set.
2. Change nameservers at your registrar
In your registrar’s control panel, replace the current nameservers with the two shown in the dashboard. This moves DNS hosting for the domain to us — that is what lets us answer for it and filter it.
Only do this on genuinely idle domains. If the domain currently resolves to a real website, use the live-site CNAME flow instead — a nameserver change would take that site offline.
3. Check email first
If the domain has email (MX records), a nameserver change will stop it working. Our hold setup does not carry your old DNS records. If email on the domain matters, contact us before switching.
What the domain shows afterwards
Visitors see a plain, neutral hold page: no branding, no ads, no for-sale pitch unless you ask for one, and noindex so search engines are told not to index it. Requests for sprayed spam paths return 410 (gone). Known hostile bots and referers are sunk at the edge.
Bringing the domain back to life
When you’re ready to use the domain, point its nameservers back to your host — or move it to the live-site flow. Nothing about the hold page creates a claim on the domain; it’s yours throughout.
Alternative: idle-domain CNAME pilot (shadow first)
This is a separate, operator-gated pilot for one idle domain. The nameserver flow above remains available and is not replaced.
- Add the parked domain so the baseline evidence is stored. Expired, redemption, clientHold/serverHold or incomplete evidence blocks attachment/activation.
- Choose Start TXT ownership proof on the domain report and publish the exact
seosink-verify=…TXT value. TXT proof establishes control; it is not CNAME activation. - Provide a working origin hostname and start in shadow mode. The app snapshots A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS and DS before you change anything.
- Only after the dashboard says the edge slot is ready, create the displayed apex/www CNAME records. “Verified” means the custom hostnames/certificates are ready; it does not claim multi-resolver observation of your CNAME.
- Shadow ready means certificates and routes are active. Requests still pass to the origin while proposed decisions are logged. Nothing is redirected or blocked until you explicitly choose Activate enforcement.
Kill switches and detach: Domain off passes traffic to the origin within the 60-second policy cache. An operator global off overrides all tenant modes; health/control-plane endpoints remain available. Re-enabling a domain first resumes shadow; enforcement always requires another explicit action.
Rollback: Detach removes only that attachment’s routes and custom hostnames. Failed deletions remain pending for retry. After confirmed detach, use the pre-attach snapshot to restore the DNS records you changed. SEO Sink never writes your DNS or registrar settings and never claims automatic DNS rollback.
